Schneck Medical Center has been named one of the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals in the nation by the Chartis Center for Rural Health.

That’s based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance in the United States, according to a news release from the Seymour hospital.

Schneck was one of only five hospitals in Indiana named to the list, including Franciscan Health (Crawfordsville); King’s Daughters’ Health (Madison); Marion General Hospital (Marion); and Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center (Jasper).

“We are honored to be recognized as a 2022 Top 100 Rural and Community Hospital,” said Dr. Eric Fish, president and chief executive officer of Schneck. “This award validates the dedication and hard work of our team to deliver outstanding care and high value to our patients and the communities we serve.”

The hospitals named to this list excel in managing risk, achieving higher quality, securing better outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction and operating at a lower cost than their peers.

“Despite unprecedented adversity brought about by the rural hospital closure crisis, diminishing access to services, nurse staffing shortages and COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, rural providers continue to display resiliency and a steadfast commitment to their communities,” said Michael Topchik, national leader of the Chartis Center for Rural Health. “We are delighted to recognize the exceptional performance and innovation of this year’s recipients, particularly in light of the extraordinary challenges facing America’s rural health safety net.”
