County teams reschedule basketball games

Just about every basketball team in Jackson County had its scheduled altered in some way last week as the blizzard swept across most of Indiana.

There no games on Thursday or Friday, and some were even called off Saturday as well. Some of those games have been rescheduled, some won’t be played and other teams have added games that weren’t originally on the schedule.

For the Seymour boys basketball team (10-5), the Owls had games against Madison and Salem canceled last week.

Seymour will be making up the Madison game on Feb. 16 next Wednesday at home.

The Owls have also altered the South Ripley game originally for this Saturday to be moved up to this Thursday, Feb. 10, at home at 6 p.m. for JV and 7:30 p.m. for varsity. Senior members on the cheerleading team and band will be honored between the JV and varsity games.

The Trinity Lutheran boys team (8-10) had a game against Greenwood Christian postponed, and that game will now take place on Feb. 24 at Greenwood Christian. That will mark as the final game for the Cougars regular-season before the postseason begins.

For the Brownstown boys team (14-3), the Braves had their home game against Columbus East canceled last Thursday, and that game will not be rescheduled.

Instead, Brownstown added a game this Thursday, Feb. 10, at the well-known Hatchet House against Washington with JV starting at 6 p.m. and varsity to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Each team has less than 10 games to go before tournament time gets underway.

The boys basketball state tournament pairings show will take place on Sunday, Feb. 20, at 5 p.m. on IHSAAtv.org.
