Police investigating report of gunshots

The Seymour Police Department is asking for the public’s help with an investigation into reports of gunshots Sunday evening on the city’s south side.

The investigation started at about 8:44 p.m. when dispatchers received a call from a person in the 700 block of Alberring Drive, according to a news release from Lt. C.J. Foster. The caller told police that residents in the area had heard several gunshots.

Patrol officers responded to that area and found three spent shell casings on Sarasota Drive, just west of Alberring Drive, Foster said. The officers also conducted a neighborhood canvass and obtained some information, he said.

Nobody was injured in the incident, which is believed to have been isolated, and no damage has been reported so far, Foster said.

He said if anyone saw anything or has any video or a Ring doorbell type system that may have caught something suspicious, they are being asked to contact the police department and ask to speak with someone in criminal investigations. The number is 812-522-1234.
