Library board holds first meeting for 2022

The Jackson County Public Library board of finance held its annual meeting Jan. 19 in the meeting room of the Seymour Library.

The board elected Dan Davis as president and Jaime McRoy as secretary, reviewed the 2021 investments and canceled 2019 uncashed checks.

For the library board of trustees, Davis and McRoy will continue to serve in the same offices — for 2022 with Kathy Ellis serving as vice president Don Myers as assistant secretary and Mary Reed as treasurer.

Matthew Lorenzo took his oath of office at the beginning of the regular library board meeting. Lorenzo, who replaces Bob Schmielau, was appointed to a four-year term by the Seymour Community School Corp. board of education through Dec. 31, 2025.

Davis said the name Lorenzo is not new to the board because Matthew’s dad, Jeff Lorenzo, served on the board for a number of years and as president at one time.

Davis also appointed committees for the year: Budget – Ellis (chairwoman), Eunice Lacey and Lorenzo; nominating – McRoy (chairwoman), Lacey and Myers; personnel – Myers (chair), Sally Crouch and Lorenzo; and strategic plan – Crouch (chairwoman), Ellis and McRoy.

The board approved final 2021 and January financial reports, claims and staff changes. Members also were told they need to fill out a conflict of interest form if they think it is necessary.

The board of trustees’ next regular meeting will be Feb. 21 at the Seymour Library.
