Thelma Otte Greathouse, age 83, of Brownstown, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour, surrounded by her loving daughters.

Thelma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Vallonia.

Mrs. Greathouse attended Immanuel Lutheran grade school and graduated from Shields High School in 1956. She retired from Blue &Co. after many years of service. She was also employed by Rose Acre Farms. Thelma loved traveling, and she also loved agriculture, her second home state of Kansas, and NASCAR.

Born on July 21, 1938, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Everett and Lura Gildhouse Otte, both of whom preceded her in death. On July 20, 1958, she married Don Greathouse, and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2016.

Survivors include two daughters: Rebecca (Ed) Tinkle of Fort Myers, Florida, and Rachel Wyatt (Mark) Carter of Paoli; one sister, Lois M. Rust of Seymour; one grandson, Davis (Jessica) Tinkle of Casselberry, Florida; and one great-grandson, Everett Royce Tinkle.

Thelma was also preceded in death by two brothers: Richard Otte and Ronald Otte; one sister, Dorothy Fleetwood; and son-in-law, Kerry Wyatt.

Funeral arrangements for Thelma Otte Greathouse will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Jordan McKinley and Pastor Paul Newman officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Brownstown.

Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, masks will be required when entering the funeral home for visitation and attendance at the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Vallonia, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Building Fund, Brownstown, Lutheran Community Home Foundation or Schneck Medical Center Hospice.
