Seymour High School athletics announced Monday that the girls basketball team will be canceling its two games this week.

The Owls were scheduled to play at Jeffersonville tonight and then at Franklin on Thursday night, but both of those games are now canceled.

Seymour is coming off of a loss to Center Grove on Saturday that dropped the Owls to 9-9 on the season.

Head coach Jason Longmeier said afterward that with the games remaining on their schedule, he wanted to see his team create some momentum and play better heading into the postseason.

Now, with the two games this week being canceled, the Owls have just two games left on their schedule before the postseason gets underway.

Seymour’s next scheduled contest will be Jan. 24 at home against Charlestown, and then the Owls will wrap up the regular season on the road Jan. 27 at New Albany.

Seymour is being led this season by Kendall Sterling, who is averaging 14.3 points per game, followed by Brooke Trinkle with 11 points per game and Grace Schrader just below double-digit scoring at 9.9 points per game.
