This is the third year for the Festival of Trees at the Jackson County History Center in Brownstown.

Two free events are set for this week at the Jackson County History Center, 105 S. Sugar St., Brownstown.

Tonight is Christmas in the Village in the livery barn. Starting at 6 p.m., the public is invited to the event that will feature carols, hot chocolate and cookies. Attendees also can vote on their favorite tree in the history center’s Festival of Trees.

Then from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, the Vallonia Christian Church and Brownstown First Baptist Church choirs will sing Christmas music in the livery barn as part of Brownstown Ewing Main Street’s Hometown Christmas celebration. The other events will take place in the nearby Jackson County Courthouse, 111 S. Main St., Brownstown.
