A food drive for Blessings in a Backpack of Jackson County is underway at Kayla Stice State Farm Insurance, 416 N. Main St., Brownstown.
Suggested items to donate include cereal, cereal bars, fruit cups, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, jelly, pasta sauce, noodles, soup, SpaghettiOs and canned ravioli.
The drive runs through Tuesday and will help provide extra food to local kids during Christmas break.
Items can be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and during Santa events at the office Tuesday night.
From 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, children with special needs can stop by the office for photos with Santa. Allergen-friendly cookies will be available, and there won’t be any flashing lights or loud music.
After that event until 7:30 p.m., the general public is invited for pictures and cookies with Santa. Kids also can write a letter to Santa and place it in the North Pole mailbox.
