NORTH VERNON

Robert Keith “Bob” Ellis, 66, of North Vernon, passed away peacefully at 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born August 9, 1955, in Seymour, he was the son of Robert Paul and Faye (Engle) Ellis. He married Tina Blair on April 30, 1983, at the Christian Church in North Vernon. They shared a lifetime of laughter and love; she survives.

Bob was a 1974 graduate of Jennings County High School and was an employee and owner of Ellis Gas and Oil company for over 54 years. He was currently serving on the Jennings County Council. Bob was a member of Vernon Baptist Church and a former deacon, and a member of Promise Keepers. He enjoyed collecting old signs and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving with his wife of 38 years, Tina; is his son, David (Alicia) Ellis of North Vernon; his daughters, Kayla (Alex) Zimmerman of North Vernon and Toyce (Josh) Cord of Shelbyville; mother, Faye Ellis of North Vernon; sisters, Marcia Brunner of Hayden and Jean (Jack) Rockey of Vernon; grandchildren, Cohen Ellis, Berklie Ellis, Liam Robert Zimmerman, all of North Vernon, Jade (Rose) Snyder, Logan Cord and Nolan Cord, all of Shelbyville; and great-grandchild, Dalton Mohr of Shelbyville.

He was preceded in death by his father, and brother, David K. Ellis.

A funeral service for Bob will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Rev. Mark Sorrells officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, November 21, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in honor of Bob through the funeral home to the Jennings County Coordinating Council, St Mary’s School, or the Schneck Foundation.
