Rally for Ta’Neasha to take place on Tuesday

Rally for Ta’Neasha is set to take place Tuesday in front of the Jackson County Courthouse, 111 S. Main St., Brownstown.

It will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with speakers beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Organizer Maxwell Mitchell called the rally a “peaceful public gathering” in a news release.

The family of Ta’Neasha Chappell, the 23-year-old Louisville, Kentucky, woman who died while in custody of the Jackson County Jail on July 16, is expected to speak at the rally.

This includes LaVite McClain, Chappell’s mother, Ronesha Murrell, Chappell’s sister, and Nevaeh Chappell, Chappell’s daughter.

Linda Sarsour and Tamika Mallory from the social justice organization Until Freedom also will speak along with an ex-inmate of the jail and Tahasha Halloway, a nurse.
