Local Verizon retailer supports veteran families

Verizon authorized retailer Round Room LLC recently announced its subsidiary, TCC, is purchasing holiday gifts for 25 veteran families nationwide to celebrate those who have served this Veterans Day as part of the company’s fifth annual Veterans Rock program.

For this year’s initiative, TCC partnered with Soldiers’ Angels, an organization that aims to provide aid, comfort and resources to the military, veterans and their families. The nonprofit paired each TCC region with one family in its Holiday Adopt-A-Family registry based on location and need. Each family in the registry provides a wish list for each child in the family and also outlines its biggest needs.

TCC stores in each region, including the store in Seymour, are purchasing gifts from each child’s wish list as well as items that reflect each family’s greatest needs throughout the month. Items bought include clothes, toys and general household items for the adults in the families. Each family also will receive grocery gift cards for two holiday family meals.

“The holidays place large financial strain on many families, and buying gifts on deployment and on a military or veteran family budget can be even more challenging,” said Scott Moorehead, chief executive officer of Round Room. “We are proud to continue recognizing deserving service members, and we hope this year’s Veterans Rock program will ease the holiday shopping burden for these veteran families.”

TCC is thankful for its veteran employees of all branches for their sacrifice, their bravery and the example they set. Qualified active and veteran military members and their spouses are encouraged to explore career opportunities with the company. With locations in 39 states, TCC can transfer employed military members or their spouses to a new TCC location if they have to move.

As a Culture of Good Inc. company, TCC makes ongoing investments in the communities in which it operates. The company recently donated more than 140,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children across the nation, marking 1.2 million backpacks full of school supplies donated by TCC since 2013.

Through its Big Impact program, TCC also awarded $30,000 in college scholarships this summer. The company’s nonprofit organization, TCC Gives, has provided more than $2.5 million in donations to local nonprofits across the country.
