Douglas A. McKinney, age 45, of Freetown, went to be home with Jesus on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. McKinney attended Driftwood Christian Church in Vallonia. He was an assistant team leader in logistics at Toyota Material Handling, LLC, Columbus.

Doug loved Jesus and was a strong Christian man willing to help anyone. He loved his family fiercely and enjoyed spending time with them, especially watching movies, working on cars, and taking rides with his daughter. Doug also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his nephews, working on and riding dirt bikes, and playing golf with his buddies. He was also a “grill master” and loved cooking for the entire family, and he was known for his steaks and burgers.

Born on January 7, 1976, in Columbus, he was the son of Donald McKinney and Vickie Greathouse McKinney, both of whom survive. On October 8, 1994, in Houston, he married his best friend, Missie Fleenor, and she survives in Freetown.

On April 3, 2005, God gifted them a daughter, their biggest blessing, Sophia Grace McKinney of Freetown. Survivors also include: one sister, Patricia (Donavan) Baxter; one brother, Jim McKinney; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Angie and Nevin Hallow; paternal grandmother, Vivian McKinney; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marvin and Karen Fleenor; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bruce McKinney; and maternal grandparents, Dean and Louise Greathouse.

Funeral services for Douglas A. McKinney will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Daniel Ison officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment will be at Houston Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Driftwood Christian Church, Vallonia.
