Busy Halloween weekend coming up

The Halloween weekend is full of events around Jackson County.

Residential trick-or-treating in the four municipalities will be Saturday due to Halloween falling on a Sunday. It will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in Brownstown, Medora and Seymour and from 6 to 9 p.m. in Crothersville.

Here are some other special events planned in the county:

Brownstown

5 to 7 p.m. Saturday: Trunk or treat at Brownstown Presbyterian Church, 417 N. Elm St. Those planning to attend should respond to the Facebook event at fb.me/e/1Q6OvfgfS.

6 to 8 p.m. Saturday: Chili, hot chocolate and candy at New Life Missionary Baptist Church, 709 W. Bridge St.

6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday: Trunk or treat at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 403 W. Bridge St.

Crothersville

5 p.m. Saturday: Crothersville Historical and Cultural Arts Association serving beans and cornbread at Bard Street Park. Donations to help with expenses for the upkeep of Hamacher Hall will be accepted. There also will be treats for kids who stop by between 6 and 9 p.m. during trick-or-treat night in town.

5:30 p.m. Saturday: Town of Crothersville and Crothersville Parks Board’s Halloween costume contest at Bard Street Park.

6 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday: Chili and hot dogs will be served for a freewill donation at the Crothersville-Vernon Township Volunteer Fire Department, 200 Moore St. Firefighters will hand out candy from 6 to 9 p.m.

Freetown

5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday: Trunk or treat at Freetown Church of Christ, 7077 N. State Road 135. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided to attendees, including adults.

Seymour

1 to 5 p.m. Saturday: Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County’s Ability 5K run/walk starting and ending at Harmony Park, 753 W. Second St., Seymour. The cost is a freewill donation to benefit the county Special Olympics program. Participants may wear a Halloween costume and enter the costume contest after the race. Candy and medals will be given to all finishers. Music and food following the run/walk.

3 to 5 p.m. Saturday: Seymour Area Cruisers trunk or treat in the farmers market parking lot on Walnut Street.

3 to 5 p.m. Saturday: Trunk or treat at Seymour Christian Church, 915 Kasting Road.

4 to 6 p.m. Saturday: Trunk or treat at Rockford United Methodist Church, 1934 N. Ewing St.

5 to 7 p.m. Saturday: Trunk or treat at The Tabernacle at Sandy Creek, 5707 N. Sandy Creek Drive.

5 to 9 p.m. Saturday: Halloween Children’s Festival at Forever Young Studio, 101 W. Tipton St. Free music, face painting and candy.

6 to 8 p.m. Saturday: Trick or treat event at the Jackson County Visitor Center, 100 N. Broadway St.

6 to 8 p.m. Saturday: Trunk or treat at Trinity United Methodist Church, 333 S. Chestnut St.

7 to 11 p.m. Saturday: Haunted Car Wash at Jeff’s Car Wash, 1705 Victory Drive. Candy with the purchase of a car wash.

5 to 7 p.m. Sunday: Drive-thru trick or treat event at First Baptist Church, 505 Community Drive.

6 to 8 p.m. Sunday: Indoor/outdoor trunk or treat at Calvary Baptist Church, 1202 N. Ewing St. Weather-permitting, it will be outside with bounce houses and trunk or treat and inside with more bounce houses and free snacks. Junkyard BBQ also will be there for food purchases. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be indoors.
