COLUMBUS

Virginia P. Taylor, 96, of Columbus, passed from this life at 8:56 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2021, at her home.

Mrs. Taylor was born October 25, 1924, in Warren County, Indiana, the daughter of James B. and Toy Hurley Roush.

She married Charles “Charlie” Taylor May 9, 1942. He preceded her in death June 18, 2000.

Virginia formerly attended Ohio Chapel Church and she enjoyed gardening, word puzzle books and canning.

Survivors include her children, Jerry L. Taylor of Seymour, Cathy (Richard) Oswald of Columbus, Judy A. Lewis of Columbus and John M. (Leroy) Hayes of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; mother; step-father, Elmer Wilson; son, Charles W. Taylor; daughter, Linda Goode; granddaughter, Jenny A. Lewis; grandson, Gary L. Taylor; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Roy Hendershot officiating.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Sweeney Cemetery in Columbus.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bartholomew County Shrine Club or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
