Nature and farm photo contest announced

The theme for the sixth annual Nature and Farm Photo contest — sponsored by Oak Heritage Conservancy and the George Rogers Clark Land Trust — is “Nature Next Door.”

Amateurs may enter for free and winners will be displayed around southeast Indiana.

“We want people to get out and enjoy nature close to where they live– and reflect on the natural world here in southern Indiana,” said Liz Brownlee, executive director of Oak Heritage Conservancy.

This year they are two separate divisions: youth and adult.

There are a full set of categories and youth ages 18 and under can enter the youth division and those 19 and older can enter the adult division.

Categories include: barns, crops and livestock; forests, creeks, and wetlands; wildlife and wildflowers (or other flora); people in nature; and architecture in nature (how architecture and nature have been combined). All photos must be taken in Indiana.

Photos are due Oct. 31. The group will select 12 winning photos (six from each division) to exhibit around southeast Indiana this winter. Winners will receive a large, mounted print of their photo.

The project also is supported by the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
