Kenneth Dale Dewar Sr., 68, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:29 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at home.

Born March 29, 1953, in Brown County, he was the son of the late Elbert and Edna (Kent) Dewar. He married Beth Fugate on November 17, 1989, in North Vernon; she survives.

Kenneth was a 1971 graduate of Jennings County High School. He was a farmer and worked in the meat department for Jay C Food Store in North Vernon for three years. He had also previously worked for Home Products in Seymour, Arvin’s Industries in North Vernon for 18 years and Goecker Lumber for ten years. Kenneth was a member of Lovett Township Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years and a member of Tea Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed boating, tractor shows, fish fry’s and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; son, Kenneth (Maggie) Dewar Jr. of Butlerville; daughter, Becky (Larry) Jones of London, Kentucky, Amy Carpenter of Washington State, and Andrea (Rusty Stovall) Carpenter of Columbus; sisters, Judy Dewar of Columbus and Jane (Steve) Ray of North Vernon; grandchildren, Chasity Jones, Justin (Tori) Jones and Ashley (Koty Taylor) Jones, all of London, Kentucky, Mackinnen (Sierra) Goen of Rushville, Merrick Goen and Raegan Goen, both of Columbus and Ryan Shannon of Costa Mesa, California; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Don Dewar and Danny Dewar and sister, Phyllis Miller.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021, in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Family and friends may call at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon on Friday, September 24, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made in honor of Kenneth through the funeral home to Lovett Township Volunteer Fire Department.
