IHSVCA ranks Trinity volleyball No. 1 in Class 1A

The Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association released its weekly ratings Monday for the top five volleyball teams in each class.

In Class A, Trinity Lutheran stood atop the rankings.

The Cougars are followed in order by Lafayette Central Catholic, Loogootee, Wes-Del and Springs Valley.

The Cougars played Loogootee back on Aug. 31 and Trinity swept them on the road 25-16, 25-15, 25-14.

Trinity is currently 16-4 on the season and is coming off of a sweep against Madison Monday night 25-16, 25-14, 25-19 and a victory over Southwestern Shelby on Tuesday 25-8, 25-10, 25-8.

On Monday, Ruthie Bingham led the Cougars’ attack with 10 kills, Carson Bowling added 8 and Bailey Tabeling had 7. Laura Roeder served 3 aces, while Bingham and Tabeling each had 2.

Kamzi Gross totaled 19 digs, followed by Stella Kleffman with 16 and Bingham with 12. Addison Darlage led Trinity with 31 assists.

On Tuesday, Bingham had 16 kills, Bowling 12 and Tabeling 7. Tabeling had 6 aces, followed by Bingham 4 and Kleffman 2.

Bingham had 12 digs, Kleffman 11, and Gross and Tabeling each with 6 while Darlage had 36 assists.

The Cougars will be back in action again at home on Thursday against Indianapolis Lutheran at 6 p.m.

The rest of the IHSVCA rankings are as follows: In Class 4A from 1-5, it goes Penn, Yorktown, Hamilton Southeastern, Munster and Roncalli. In Class 3A, it’s Bishop Dwenger, Brebeuf, Bellmont, Benton Central and Wapahani. Rounding out the rankings in Class 2A are Tecumseh, Madison-Grant, Andrean, Western Boone and Linton-Stockton.
