Beverly Dell Scott Johnson, 80, of Seymour, passed away on September 12, 2021, in Paoli with her husband by her side.

She was born in 1941, daughter of the late Clayton Woodrow and Orpha Marine Ratcliff Scott in Seymour. On November 16, 1991, she married Thomas Gregory Johnson and he survives.

Beverly was a member of First United Methodist Church in Seymour where was also a member of the United Methodist Church Women’s Group. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Retired Teachers and Ladies Card Club. Beverly was an elementary school teacher for 35 years and she retired from Redding Elementary School. She graduated from Freetown High School then went on to receive her master’s degree from IU. Beverly enjoyed gardening, weekly dinners with friends, golfing, getting together with her classmates from Freetown but most of all she loved to watch her grandchildren play sports. They were the light of her life.

Beverly is survived by her son, Steven Scott Steltenpohl; stepson Gregory Johnson; stepdaughters Kara (Mark) Scheidler and Amy (Chris) Harbert; brother Marion (Janet) Scott; grandchildren, Stephanie Steltenpohl, Maria (Brian) Schubert, Karson Scheidler, Mason Harbert and Maelynn Harbert; great-grandchild Syrus Schubert; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Roberta (Marvin) Persinger.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 11am-1pm at Voss Chapel.

Funeral service will be held on Friday at 1pm at Voss Chapel.

Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be written to First United Methodist Church or Redding Elementary School Library.
