Mayor proclaims Dorothy Helt Day

Dorothy Helt had a very special birthday Aug. 3 with the help of Bobby Eldridge and Rhonda Money from Prestigious Affairs in Seymour.

Seymour Mayor Matt Nicholson also was there to read a proclamation making Aug. 3, 2021, Dorothy Helt Day.

There were eight friends and family members who attended a birthday luncheon downtown with Dorothy. A few days before that, more than 175 people attended her birthday celebration Aug. 1 at Reddington Christian Church.

Helt had requested instead of gifts for people to contribute to the Jackson County Dog Shelter. As a result, almost $450 was raised in donations. Helt said she feels so blessed and wants to thank everyone who made her 95th birthday special and fabulous.
