The Seymour and Brownstown girls and boys cross-country teams competed at the 2021 Scott Hiles Invitational in Bedford on Monday evening.

The Seymour girls won the Invite as a team with a score of 26. Vivienne Siefker won the girls race with a time of 20:44.24, and Hayley Harpe was second with a time of 21:53.27. Samantha Jacobi was fourth with a time of 22:12.85, Kinsley Folsom was seventh with a time of 23:15.43, Grace Lewis was 13th with a time of 25:45.11, Emilee East 18th (27:35.55), and Emma Braman 19th (27:39.94).

The Brownstown girls team placed fifth overall with a score of 121. Paige McKain was 17th with a time of 27:30.66, Madison Schepman was 23rd (29:59.16), Claire Schepman was 30th (32:26.70), Camryn Thompson was 34th (34:24.75), Madison Stuckwisch was 37th (35:24.95), Addie Shelton 41st (38:16.56), and Rozellyn Abell 43rd (39:47.66).

Bloomington North won the boys race with a score of 15, Seymour was second with a 65 and Brownstown was fifth with a score of 122.

For Seymour, Jude Bane was 8th with a 17:56.29, Michael Proffer 13th (18:39.06), Ty Tormoehlen 20th (19:52.53), Sam Rockey 21st (20:15.37), Carter Murphy 28th (20:58.68), Carter Morris 32nd (21:28.29), and Wes Proffer 34th (21:37.76).

For Brownstown, Garrett Driver was 23rd with a time of 20:33.70, Dylan Wischmeier 29th (21:02.62), Traven Wellman 33rd (21:29.00), Edwards Bradley 36th (21:44.38), Cameron Day 41st (22:28.55), Waylon Lutes 47th (23:27.10), and EJ Autry 53rd (24:41.62).

Tennis

Trinity defeats Indy Lutheran

The Trinity boys tennis team won its first match of the season after defeating Indianapolis Lutheran 3-2.

The Cougars’ points came from Soloman Hall at two singles after he beat Isaac Vance 6-0, 6-3. At three singles Nathan Voelker beat Blake Miller 6-1, 6-2. Nathan Finke and Will Gausman got an automatic win at two doubles due to lack of players.

Reese Bullock defeated Trinity’s Ryan Kleman 6-3, 6-2, and and Caden Perkins and Cole Perkins defeated Cameron Gruenwald and Evan Hunt 6-1, 6-1.

Trinity will play Wednesday at Brown County at 5 p.m.

Brownstown suffers loss to Silver Creek

The Brownstown boys tennis team lost 5-0 to Silver Creek on the road Monday night.

Ethan Davis lost to Grant Miller 6-0, 6-1 at one singles, Pierson Wheeler lost to Samuel Harris 6-1, 6-4 at two singles and Grant Elliot lost to Camden Smith 6-2, 6-0 at three singles.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Smith Hackman and Lane Stewart lost to Lucas Densford and Josiah French 6-1, 6-0, and at two doubles, Bryce Reasor and Ethan Garland lost to Evan Chevalier and Chase Richardson 6-2, 6-4.

The Braves, now 2-2 on the season, will look to bounce back today when they host Edinburgh at 4:45 p.m.

Golf

Brownstown shoots under-200 versus Paoli

The Brownstown girls golf team shot a 193 against Paoli on Monday, securing the win regardless since Paoli only had two golfers that finished nine holes.

Payton Ault led the way for the Braves with a 43, and Lexie Satterthwaite was right behind her with 44.

Hannah Hackman shot a 47, Emma Hughbanks shot a 59, and Abby Schroer shot a 60.

Kelsey Ault and Gracie Reynolds each shot a 61, Megan VonDielingen shot a 63 and Addie Schocke shot a 65.

Brownstown will be back in action on Friday when it hosts Salem at 5 p.m.
