Only one path leads to God

We recently considered some outrageous claims that Jesus made, but Jesus had the credentials to make his claims uniquely credible.

Jesus authenticated his claim of being God by fulfilling dozens of centuries-old prophecies against all mathematical odds. These prophecies were like a thumbprint that only the Messiah would be able to fit — and in all of history, they only fit Jesus.

Unlike other religious leaders, Jesus performed great miracles that further authenticated his claim to being God. And in the most spectacular demonstration of his deity, Jesus fulfilled his own prediction by being resurrected from the dead in a historic event that was witnessed by more than 500 people.

The resurrection sparked a historic spiritual revolution that has lasted for more than 2,000 years. Jesus didn’t just claim he was the one and only son of God, he validated his claim like nobody else in the history of the world ever could.

Some people think it is narrow-minded to say Jesus is the only way to heaven. I admit it would be narrow-minded to say Jesus is the only way to heaven if there really are many paths that lead to God. It would be arrogant to say Jesus is the best way to heaven if there were many ways.

But according to the Bible, someone had to pay the penalty for the sin that separates us from God. Jesus was the only one who was qualified to die in our place because he was the only one without sin. It’s not narrow-minded to act upon the evidence and pursue the truth.

When we turn to Jesus Christ, we’re not being narrow-minded. We’re acting rationally in accordance with the evidence. Water is two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. That’s not narrow-minded. It is simply the truth.

There is plenty of evidence to support the claim that Jesus Christ is the only way to God. And he extended this invitation to all of us in Revelation 3:20: “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in …”

Have you accepted Christ’s invitation? It is up to you. We all get to decide for ourselves. The good news of the Gospel is that nobody will be turned away. Romans 10:13 makes this promise: “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
