The Seymour boys soccer team had a solid showing at Bloomington South on Saturday, but the Owls couldn’t come up with a win.
A goal from Kyston Howard with 37:10 left in the second half was the difference-maker as the Panthers won 1-0.
Seymour had six shots 6 (Donovyn Thomas 3, Will Cottrill, Oliver Kardos, Mauricio Aragon), and Bloomington South had 13
Will Smith had 4 saves in the net for Seymour.
Seymour, now 1-1-1, will play again Thursday against Bloomington North at home.
Cross-country
Holman places 4th at Shelby Invite
Crothersville’s Kaylyn Holman placed fourth overall in the Southwestern (Shelby) Invite on Saturday with a time of 21:32.41.
Ella Plasse was 36th with a time of 24:26.56, and Kennadi Lakins was 133rd with a time of 31:39.89.
Saturday was also the first meet for Trinity Lutheran. Cheyenne Campbell placed 73rd, running a 26:09.96, and Jocelyn Love placed 128th with a time of 30:37.79.
For the boys, Crothersville’s Dirk Crater was 93rd with a time of 21:18.98.
Golf
Brownstown defeats pair of opponents
The Brownstown girls golf team defeated Scottsburg and Silver Creek on Friday after shooting a team score of 196. Scottsburg shot a 224 and Silver Creek only had two golfers and couldn’t make up a team score.
Payton Ault led the way for the Braves, shooting a 44. Hannah Hackman shot a 50, Lexie Satterthwaite and Emma Hughbanks each shot a 51, and Gracie Reynolds shot a 55.
Brownstown will be back in action today against Paoli at 5 p.m.
