Brownstown got its first win of the season on Monday after defeating Mitchell 191-248 at Hickory Hills Golf Course.

Payton Ault and Lexie Satterthwaite led the way for the Braves after both of them shot a 45.

Hannah Hackman was next with a 48 and Emma Hughbanks shot a 53. Brownstown’s top four golfers all tied or shot better than Mitchell’s No. 1 golfer, which was Anna Sowders, who shot a 53.

The Bluejackets only had four take the course on Monday. After Sowders, it was Malaya T. with a 61, Emerie Russell 65 and Bella Powley 69.

As for the Braves, they had nine girls out on the course, most of which seeing their first action of the season. Kelsey Ault shot a 55, Gracie Reynolds 56, Megan VonDielingen 61, and Jayda Clodfelder and Abby Schroer each shot a 64.

Brownstown followed that performance up the next day with another impressive showing against Edgewood and Brown County at Cascades Golf Course in Bloomington.

The Braves were victorious over both teams, shooting a 198 compared to Brown County’s 207 and Edgewood’s 225.

Satterthwaite was the leader again for Brownstown, shooting the lowest score of any team with a 47. Kelsey Ault was right behind her with a 49. The closest opponent to those two were Annika Evenson of Brown County with a 50.

The next three for Brownstown were all tied as well. Payton Ault, Hackman and Hughbanks each shot a 51, meaning Brownstown had five of the top seven scores of the day (Ainslie Winton of Brown County also shot a 51).

The remaining Brown County golfers were Lilly VanNess (52), Abby Padgett (54), and Hannah de Weerdt (59).

The Edgewood team shot as followed: Jailyn Robinson (54), Winnie Sater (57), Candace Rosemeier (57), Amara Hanson (57) and Grace Weiler (67).

This was a good week for Brownstown to get back on track after struggling a tad in its opening match last week at the Seymour Invite.

The Braves are done for the week and will hope to carry this momentum when they return back to action on Monday at home against Eastern (Pekin) at 5 p.m.
