Alpha Beta chapter of Psi Iota Xi sorority of Seymour sponsored the Jackson County Fair’s baby contest this year.

During Saturday’s contest at the pavilion at the fairgrounds in Brownstown, there were more than 100 entrants, including babies in crocheted cow outfits, little farmers in overalls and all manners of bows and John Deere colors.

There were 12 categories, including Little Farmer Girl and Little Farmer Boy.

The grand champion winners were McKenna Hackman and Connor Surenkamp.

“The pavilion was full of adoring mamas and daddies and papaws and grandmas and aunts and uncles and neighbors and siblings,” sorority member Lisa Fleming said. “The future of Jackson County is in good hands indeed.”

Psi Iota Xi is a service sorority supporting the best art, literature, music, speech and hearing. At this year’s Seymour Oktoberfest, the sorority will have its Reuben booth set up on the northwest corner of Second and Chestnut streets.
