Crothersville Coordinator Cindy Huckleberry gave a report on local summer and upcoming programs when the Jackson County Public Library board of trustees met Monday at the Crothersville Library.

The library has partnered with the town of Crothersville to hold programs at Bard Street Park and is planning fall programs with the senior citizens center located behind the library.

The board heard comments on the American Library Association Conference from Director Julia Aker and Administrator Mary Reed, who were two of six staff members who attended virtually in June. An emailed report was sent to board members earlier that day.

The board approved joining the State Consortium for Public Library Internet Access from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, and declared surplus furniture from the Seymour Library. Sales of the furniture will benefit the library’s operating fund furniture and equipment allocation.

The library plans to apply for an American Rescue Plan grant through the Indiana State Library. Staff members are working on project prioritization and may replace the furniture with more easily cleaned/sanitized items using grant funds.

Other items that could be purchased include a replacement for the Discovery Bus, an outdoor pavilion for programs and security cameras.

The board also reappointed Information Services Clerk Trina Roark, effective Aug. 2.

The board’s next meeting is at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Seymour Library.
