Chasing Bubbles Foundation holds inaugural Alex Rust Regatta

The inaugural Alex Rust Regatta took place June 12 at Lake Onyx in Seymour.

The regatta was a pirate-themed fundraising event put on by the Chasing Bubbles Foundation to inspire a fun and safe adventure in honor of Capt. Alex Rust, according to a news release.

Rust was born and raised in Seymour. He died unexpectedly May 28, 2013, in India of complications from typhoid fever. He was 28.

The event featured three races:

Paddle for those with kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, canoes and anything else that requires the racer to paddle.

Sailing limited to dinghy sailboats less than 18 feet because of the size of the lake.
