Fredrick E. “Fred” Dieckmeyer, 82, of Columbus passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 in Columbus.

Fred was born in Seymour, Indiana January 4, 1939, the son of Louis and Myrtle Schneider Dieckmeyer. He married Judith Swartz May 24, 1975 and she survives.

He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Columbus where he sang in the choir and Men’s Chorus. He also served as the director of the Men’s Chorus. He was a member of The Barbershop Harmony Society of Franklin and was a former 2 time Barbershopper of the year. He enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles, Sudoku and enjoyed playing cards of any kind. He attended Purdue University and worked for Arvin Industries 41 years as a Computed Programmer/Systems Analyst.

Fred is survived by his wife, Judy of Columbus; son, Damon (Michele) Dieckmeyer of Noblesville; brother, Roger (Ellie) Dieckmeyer of Crawfordsville; brothers-in-law, Paul Hoene of Cortland and Roger Hubbard of Iowa; grandchildren, Alex, Emma Dieckmeyer, Kaleb and Brooke Parker all of Noblesville; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Doris Hoene and Sharon Hubbard.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St Peters Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark R. Teike officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Thursday at the Church. Entombment will be in Garland Brook Mausoleum.
