The Magic of Books Bookstore in Seymour has started a new fundraiser called Sponsor a Teacher.

From now until Aug. 1, items from the list below can be dropped off at the bookstore,113 W. Second St., during normal business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Those who prefer to make a monetary donation may do so on the store’s Venmo account Magicofbooks87, which was set up for this event. The money received will go toward purchasing more supplies or other items not collected from the lists.

Teachers can still submit item lists to the bookstore owner, Jenna Martinez, by sending an email to [email protected]. Copies of the supply list also are available at the bookstore.

Items requested by teachers are lined writing paper, boxes of Kleenex, Fiskars scissors, glue sticks, mechanical pencils, No. 2 pencils, pencil sharpeners, zippered pencil bags, Crayola crayons, pocket folders, EXPO dry erase markers, spiral notebooks, bottles of hand sanitizer, containers of disinfecting wipes, card stock (white and colored), Velcro dots, stamp pads, sharpies, gel pens, pencil boxes, plastic pocket folders, 1½-inch clear view binders, blunt tip scissors, large pink erasers, composition notebooks (not spiral), markers, gallon-size Ziploc bags, sandwich bags, Dixie cups, washable markers, 1 inch three-ring binders, colored pencils, highlighters, loose-leaf paper, skinny tip markers, binder tab dividers, Goldfish crackers, pretzel sticks, Play-Doh, rulers, stickers of all kinds for grading papers and other activities, microfiber towels, pens, Post-it Notes, colored paper, stamps, bags of all sizes, hanging file folders and cleaning supplies.

During the bookstore’s one-year anniversary celebration from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., July 31, the store will be doing a supply drive for Sponsor a Teacher.

For every three items a person brings to the store from the list that day, the donor will get to draw for a prize. The prizes will include different amounts of coupons, bookmarks, shirts, stickers, gift cards, books and other various items.
