Local student receives scholarship

The Indiana Retired Teachers Foundation scholarship committee recently announced 10 college juniors and seniors from across the state, including Lauren Voss of Seymour, will receive scholarships toward their pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in education.

Recipients were chosen for their academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, work experience, future goals and diversity, according to a news release from the foundation.

All of the recipients demonstrated financial need and received a letter of recommendation from a foundation member.

Voss, a senior at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus, is pursuing a degree in elementary education. She presently has a 3.68 grade-point average.
