NORMAN

Margie A. (Geier) McCaslin, age 81, of Norman, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at I.U. Hospice, Bloomington.

Mrs. McCaslin was a member of Kurtz Church of the Nazarene for more than 20 years.

Margie retired from Faultless Caster as a quality inspector after 31 years of service. She was a member of the International Association of Machinists District 153 Local 2040 and was secretary for the Union Negotiating team for 20 years, where she met her husband.

Margie was known as “the cake lady”, never sharing her baking secrets, only delicious brownies or cupcakes with every social gathering. You could always find Margie outside holding a tiny hand on the rocking horse, having a panic attack anytime someone did a cannonball into the pool or keeping everyone hydrated with ice cold pink lemonade made with extra sugar. If the collection of Boyds Bears did not catch your eye when walking in her house, surely it was the fridge full of poorly decorated cupcakes she let the kids handle.

Margie was always a free spirit and kid at heart never letting sickness keep her from living life the way she intended. Her faith in God and love for her family kept her going, never straying away from her intended greater purpose. Her greets were the warmest hugs you would ever receive and her smile radiated happiness on anyone who saw her. You could truly feel her love for everyone.

Born on January 28, 1940, in Evansville, she was the daughter of William, Sr. and Margaret Ernst Geier, both of whom preceded her in death. On September 1, 1979, in Evansville, she married Shildes “Mac” M. McCaslin, Jr., and he survives in Norman.

Survivors include three daughters: Pamela K. (Steve) Kirchoff of Evansville, Theresa L. Williams of Indianapolis, and Nancy E. McCaslin of Kurtz; two sons: Shildes “Mac” M. McCaslin, IV, of Kurtz, and Dale F. (Michelle) McCaslin of Indianapolis; one brother, William R. Geier of Evansville; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Margie Ann Wharton; one son, Ricky Pickerill; son-in-law, Larry Williams; daughter-in-law, Anita Pickerill; and one brother, Carl Morris, Jr.
