The Josh Teegarden Memorial 5K Run/Walk will be June 19 at Freetown Church of Christ, 7077 N. State Road 135, Freetown.

Registration starts at 8 a.m., and the race will begin at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $25 per participant. All who register will receive a T-shirt.

Proceeds will be used to fund three scholarships at Johnson University in memory of Teegarden.

An alumnus of Johnson University, Teegarden was killed July 27, 2004, while serving on the mission field at Christ Camp for the Blind in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. His father, Bill Teegarden, was the senior minister at Freetown Church of Christ at the time.

In memory of Josh, organizers are combining two of the things he loved most: Running and missions.

Awards will be presented to the top female and male racers in eight categories along with special awards in two other categories.
