Police investigating a possible incident of criminal recklessness with a vehicle on Sunday in Seymour wound up arresting two men and a juvenile on drug-related charges.

Tristain Brooks, 19, of Seymour faces preliminary Class A misdemeanor charges of dealing in marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, while his father, David Brooks, 43, of Seymour faces a Level 6 felony charge of neglect of a dependent and Class A misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

The 17-year-old male juvenile faces preliminary Class A misdemeanor charges of dealing in marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, according to a news release from Seymour Police Department Lt. C.J. Foster.

All three males were taken to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown after their arrests at a home in the 800 block of Garden Avenue, Foster said.

The arrests stem from an investigation that started when city officers were led to a home to investigate a report of possible criminal recklessness with a vehicle that occurred Saturday, Foster said.

When officers arrived at the home, they noticed the odor of burning marijuana, Foster said.

As a result, probable cause was developed, and a Jackson Superior Court II search warrant was obtained.

Investigators were then called to process the scene for evidence. During the search of the home, investigators located approximately 22 ounces of marijuana, more than 300 THC vape cartridges, drug paraphernalia, more than $2,000 in U.S. currency and three handguns, Foster said.

The street value of the marijuana and the THC vape cartridges seized is estimated to be more than $16,000, Foster said.

The items were all seized as evidence. Investigators also assisted patrol officers in interviewing the suspects.

Foster said more arrests are expected, and the incident involving criminal reckless with a vehicle also is still under investigation.
