Kenneth B. Wessel, 92, of Columbus, passed away April 23, 2021.

Kenneth was born January 12, 1929, in Jackson County, the son of Wilbert Sr. and Viola Steinkamp Wessel. He married Eunice M. Stuckwisch on November 6, 1949.

Kenneth enjoyed yard work and gardening. He also took an interest in agricultural things but mostly enjoyed the simple things in life. Kenneth was previously employed at Producers Marketing Association. He then went to work for Hamilton Cosco until his retirement.

Kenneth is survived by his sons Dennis H. (Paulette) Wessel and Gary A. Wessel both of Columbus, and Lester D. (Joanne) Wessel of Greenwood; a daughter-in-law Kathryn “Kathy” Chadd Wessel; grandchildren Derek Paul (Claire) Wessel, Shalah (Matt) Noblitt, Sterling Wessel, Jacob Wessel, Matthew (Cassie) Wessel, Samantha (Joe) Walterman, and Ryan Wessel; a step-granddaughter Stacey G. Wetherald; 13 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; brothers Wilbert (Donna) Wessel Jr. of Brownstown, Lee (Mary Lou) Wessel of Columbus, Kelso (Judy) Wessel of London, Ohio, Bill Wessel of Brownstown, and Ivan (Shirley) Wessel of Jackson County; sisters Violet (Robert) Wischmeier of Jackson County, Audra (Michael) Deaton of Depauw, Indiana, and Opal (Ron) Roark of Scott County.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Eunice on July 5, 2018; a son Randall K. Wessel; a granddaughter-in-law Kristie Jo Schroer Wessel; brothers Edward, Walter Ralph, and Debron Wessel; as well as a sister Rosa Nell.

The funeral will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the Jewell — Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Teike officiating. Calling will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice of charities.
