Holman breaks three running records

Kaylyn Holman, a junior distance runner from Crothersville, set three meet records in the Sam Sumner Track Invitational on Saturday at Borden.

Holman lowered the 1600 mark to 5:38.50, the 800 record to 2:34.52 and the 3200 to 11:58.49.

Crothersville’s Kennadi Lakins tied for third in the high jump by clearing 4-6, finished fourth in the long jump with a jump of 13-¾, and seventh in the 100 at 15.72, and teammate Karley Gillis was sixth in the 100 hurdles at 21.87.

Tiger Senior Shea Reynolds was second in the shot put at 28-3½, and Kaylee Caudill was eighth at 23-10½. Reynolds also was eighth in the discus at 68-½, and Ella Plasse was third in the 3200 at 14:04.08 and seventh in the 1600 at 6:30.77.

Trinity Lutheran’s Mya Lindroth placed third in the 400 at 1:08.87 and fifth in the 200 with a time of 30.2.

The Sam Sumner is a meet for Class 1A schools. Borden scored 145 points, Springs Valley had 137, Crothersville was third with 63.5, and Trinity Lutheran scored 10.

Holman also competed in the Flashes Showcase Miracle Mile on Friday night at Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis. She ran a 5:26.72 and finished 10th in her heat. Overall, Holman finished 53rd out of 74 runners.

Zoe Duffus of Fort Wayne Carroll was first in 4:45.95, and Lucas Guerra of Highland was first for the boys at 4:09.13.
