Ellen S. Nicholson was born February 16, 1934 to Ed William and Emma Grace Spall Holman in Seymour Indiana. She attended Shields High School. Ellen married Eugene Earl “Sonny” Nicholson May 19, 1967 at Paris Crossing. He precedes her in death.

Ellen worked at Gerwin Shoe Factory and H.O. Canfield’s in Seymour. She was a member of Reddington Christian Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and canning. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family who she dedicated her life to. She cared for her daughter, Linda for 51 years until her passing in 2019. She received care from many caregivers over the years and she loved and appreciated them.

Ellen passed away on April 15, 2021 at age 87. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Penny) Hamilton of Muncie, Indiana and Brenda (Tim) Toborg of Seymour, brothers, Elmer (Olive) Holman, Ray (Walena) Holman, Bob (Wanda) Holman, and Roger (Gwen) Holman and sisters, Mary Weaver, Norma Jean Fish, Betty (Randall) Beach, and Sue (Tim) Boling. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Atte'(Josh Hayes) Hamilton, Jami Hamilton, Britni (Josh) Smith, Kelsey (Seth) Thompson and Elijah (Megan) Toborg. Great-grandchildren are Titus Hayes, Seth Payne, Samuel Hayes, Masyn Hamilton, Shiloh Smith and Zayden Thompson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter, Linda Nicholson, sister, Pearl Spall and 2 brothers, Ivan Holman and Guy Holman.

Friends may visit with Ellen’s family from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut St. Seymour. The funeral will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, at Burkholder Chapel with Pastor Scott Brown officiating. Face masks are requested and social distancing will be encouraged. Memorials may be made through Burkholder Chapel to Reddington Christian Church or Schneck Hospice. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.
