After a traffic stop and a K-9 sniff of a vehicle in Crothersville, officers were able to locate more than 200 grams of methamphetamine and other illicit items.

Devin James Dunn, 25, of Seymour and Mia Leeanne DeGonia, 23, of Crothersville both face charges of dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony.

At approximately 1:45 a.m. Thursday, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Officer Brad Barker stopped a vehicle in the 9000 block of East County Road 500S near Crothersville for having false and fictitious plates.

During the stop, Barker said he was familiar with the occupants of the vehicle and had information that they had been selling meth in Jackson County.

After identifying the occupants as Dunn and DeGonia, Barker requested Seymour Police Department Cpl. Adam Surface and K-9 Nash conduct a free air sweep of the vehicle.

Nash had a positive alert on the vehicle, and a search warrant was applied for and granted, Barker said.

After searching the vehicle, a lockbox with 229.7 grams of methamphetamine, syringes and digital scales was located.

Dunn and DeGonia were transported to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown, where they remain without bond.

In Indiana, a Level 3 felony means three to 16 years in prison with an advisory sentence of nine years if convicted.

The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are possible, Barker said. County Officer Alan Jones assisted with the traffic stop.
