Seymour sweeps Edinburgh

It was smooth sailing for the Seymour Owls girls tennis team Monday night against Edinburgh, winning the match 5-0.

Brooke Schafstall got the win at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-1; Sandy Cerino battled to win her match in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles 3-6, 6-0, 10-3; and Kirby Hill got the victory at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0.

As for doubles, Avery Ragon and Mallory Moore won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1, and Madalyn Baurle and Elise Hartung were victorious 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.

Marshall leads Seymour to defeat Madison

It was another good day for the Seymour boys golf team Monday night.

The Owls defeated Madison with a total team score of 170 to Madison’s 173.

Senior Owen Marshall led the way for his team, shooting a 38 on the day. Ethan Dippold followed that up with a 40, and Andrew Knieriem had the third-best score of the day for the Owls with a 45. Noah Surface rounded things out for his squad with a 47.

Other players to complete their rounds Monday were Manny Fontanez with a 48, Andon Self shot a 49, Drew Schroeder had a 53 and Zach Storey had a 54.

Seymour performs well in invitational

The Seymour boys golf team posted a score of 345 to place seventh out of 15 teams Saturday in the Floyd Central Invitational at Valley View Golf Course.

Owen Marshall and Ethan Dippold were low for the Owls with 84s, Manny Fontanez shot 85, Noah Surface 92 and Andrew Knieriem shot 95.

Center Grove won the tournament with a score of 306 with Bloomington South and Columbus North tying for second with 317s.

Reilley Briles of Evansville North was medalist with a 75.
