The Indiana State Department of Health announced Friday that 4,888 Jackson County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, an increase of eight from Thursday’s total.
The positivity rate for Jackson County is at 8.1%, a 0.5% decrease from Thursday’s percentage of 8.6%, according to the department’s COVID-19 dashboard.
The rate is determined by a seven-day moving average with a six-day lag to give time to receive comprehensive results. The current positivity rate for the county would be for March 27 to April 2.
After an update to the ISDH’s county metrics map Wednesday, Jackson County is classified as a level 2 county and an orange level threat.
No new deaths attributed to COVID-19 were reported in Jackson County on Friday, meaning the county’s death toll remains at 69.
There have been 54,168 COVID tests administered to 18,446 individuals in the county since March 18, 2020, an increase of 115 from Thursday’s total.
The latest results are as of 11:59 p.m. Thursday. The coronavirus dashboard is updated at noon daily.
Also Friday, the state’s COVID-19 vaccination dashboard reported 11,734 or 26.5% of 44,231 Jackson County residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 8,144 or 18.4% of county residents have been fully vaccinated.
In Jackson County, 544 residents have received the Johnson and Johnson single-dose vaccine.
Since Dec. 14, 1,916,401 Hoosiers have received their first dose, while 1,352,363 are fully vaccinated. There have been 108,142 Hoosiers who have received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
On Friday, 1,374 additional Hoosiers across the state were diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at the ISDH, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories.
This brings the total number of Hoosiers known to have had the novel coronavirus to 696,175 following corrections to the previous day’s total.
The state’s total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 is 12,726 with 16 new deaths being reported Friday.
For the state, a total of 9,152,768 tests have been administered, an increase of 38,523 from Thursday’s total.
