The Trinity Lutheran baseball team came away with a 2-1 victory over Rising Sun on Wednesday night.

The Cougars scored runs in the bottom of the third and bottom of the fifth to get the win. Rising Sun scored one in the top of the seventh before Trinity closed the game out.

Jack Marksberry and Lawson Woods got the two RBI on the day to give their team the advantage.

Woods was also the winning pitcher. He pitched 6.1 innings, struck out 11, gave up one hit and one earned run. Tyler Goecker, who recorded a hit in the game, came in for Trinity and got the save.

The Cougars are 3-1 on the season.

Trinity gets first win of season on Wednesday night

Julie Lemming and her squad picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday night, defeating Southwest Shelby 3-2.

Sarah Lemming got her second win of the season at number one singles as she beat Kyla Robertson 6-2, 7-5.

Regan Cain defeated Lauryn Blandell at number two singles 6-1, 6-2, and the number two doubles team of Katelyn Mensendiek and Kiley Zabel defeated Faith Kelley and Ela Rice 6-4, 6-0 to get the Cougars the deciding third point of the day.

Erin Enzinger lost to Brooklyn Schneder 1-6, 1-6 in number three singles as she still searches for her first individual win of the season. Same goes for the number one doubles team of Rebekah Brown and Drew Hubbard, who lost to Sydney Eberhold and MiKinley Correll 2-6, 5-7.

The Cougars are 1-1 on the season.
