Two juveniles were arrested Thursday after Seymour Police Department officers were able to identify them as the suspects from a burglary at a bank.

Police were notified of an alarm that had gone off at Centra Credit Union, 520 S. Jackson Park Drive, and immediately responded to the scene, according to a news release from Lt. C.J. Foster.

He said officers responding to the alarm found the glass of the main entry doors had been smashed.

Officers cleared the building and found nobody inside.

By viewing surveillance footage, officers were able to determine one of two individuals entered the building. That person checked the vault and at least one of the teller stations before leaving the bank. Both suspects then left the area.

Crime scene technicians processed the scene and collected evidence, Foster said. They also reviewed surveillance footage from the credit union and obtained footage from other locations in the area.

Based on that footage, investigators and patrol officers were able to develop two juveniles. They located the two suspects and were able to obtain confessions from them, Foster said.

The two males, ages 14 and 15, were arrested for burglary. The 15-year-old also was arrested for criminal mischief, theft and possession of marijuana. Both were detained pending a court hearing.
