North Vernon driver arrested after traffic stop

A 43-year-old North Vernon woman was arrested on four drug-related charges after a traffic stop Monday near the area of Franklin and North State streets in that Jennings County city.

The arrest of Kelli Cravens occurred after Officer Wes Thayer saw a driver fail to signal a turn in the area of the intersection and detected the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle after stopping it, according to a news release the North Vernon Police Department.

Cravens faces preliminary charges of felony dealing in methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, officers said.

When searching the vehicle, a large quantity of illegal drugs was found, including marijuana, various forms of THC edibles, THC vape cartridges, about 21 grams of methamphetamine and various drug paraphernalia, officers said.
