OAKDALE, MN

Doris passed away from COVID-19 (and underlying conditions) on February 26, 2021 in St. Paul, MN.

She was born June 2, 1930, to Fred K Fear and Helen (Black) Fear in Decatur County, IN.

She attended Columbus High School. Doris was an amazing mother to Linda (Minor) Kirsch of Maplewood, MN, and Rick (Kathryn Toepel) Minor of Eugene, OR, and grandmother to Joshua (Kristina) Kirsch, Jordan (Nichole) Kirsch, Kelsey, and Abigail Minor. She cherished her great-grandchildren Kyla, Noah, Ashlyn, Makenzie, and Callen Kirsch. She is also survived by a sister, Lois Copeland, of Seymour, and a sister-in-law, Kyoko Smith, of CA. On June 13, 1959, Doris married Ronald (Ron) Gene Smith of Seymour who was stationed with the U.S. Navy in CA at the time. Ron and Doris lived many places, most on the west coast, but also in FL and MN, making good friends everywhere they lived. Ron preceded Doris in death in 2008. Doris had many hobbies and interests including ceramics, oil painting, reading mysteries, mah jongg, and genealogy. She was a proud member of the DAR.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 26, 2021, at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus with Pastor Larry Isbell officiating.
