Silver Creek, Lawrence North advance

Silver Creek and Lawrence North advanced to state championship games in the boys’ state basketball tournament by picking up wins Saturday in the Seymour Semistate.

Silver Creek defeated Guerin Catholic 54-46 in Class 3A. The Dragons held a 20-19 lead at the half.

Trey Kaufman-Renn and Jacobi Kooper topped the Dragons with 15 points each and Branden Northern added 12 points.

Lawrence North rallied to outscore Bloomington South 16-11 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 54-52 win in Class 4A.

Bloomington held a 27-24 lead at the half and a 41-38 lead after three periods.

Shamar Avance was high scorer for Lawrence with 16, while Joey Bomba topped Bloomington with 21.

In the Class 1A semistate at Washington, Barr-Reeve rolled over Tindley 72.25.

The state finals have been moved to April 3 because of the NCAA tournament games in Indianapolis next weekend.

On April 3, Barr-Reeve will play Kouts in the 1A finals, Blackhawk Christian will take on Parke Heritage in 2A, Silver Creek will face Leo in 3A, and Lawrence North will battle Carmel for the 4A title.
