Thumbs up to the Seymour High School archery Team 1 for advancing to the National Archery in the Schools Program state tournament Saturday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Members of the team are Hannah Ackeret, Jaden Bevers, Logan Bryant, Madelynn Burns, Hannah Busby, Leigha Butler, Levi Croquart, Johnathan Engleking, Kiersten Engleking, Kielar Greer, Jacob Jones, Evan Kegeris, Seth Lane, Ethan McKinney, Dorismar Ortiz, Charlotte Rust, Pablo Trejo, Kaylee Tudor, McKenzie Wirtz and Eli Wood with alternates Rikki Dial, Sierra Fletcher, Megan Kieser and Audrey Redlin. The team, coached by Jill Purkhiser, Jonathan Purkhiser, Drew Purkhiser, Shawn Mahoney and Justin Ackeret, qualified for state by shooting a 3,267 during their own qualifier Jan. 29 and 30 in the Lloyd E. Scott Gymnasium.

Sectional sensations

Thumbs up to the members of this season’s Trinity Lutheran boys basketball squad for winning the Class A West Washington Sectional title by defeating the host Senators 57-41 on Saturday night. Members of the 12-13 team, which gave the Seymour school its first sectional title since 2014, are Sage Broughton, Tyler Goecker, Kowan Gross, Charlie Hackman, Mitchell Hackman, Kade Hill, Evan Hunt, Jack Marksberry, Hudson Norton, Peyton Pollert, Jacob Sabotin, Caleb Williams and Lawson Woods. The Cougars, coached by Ryan Crase, will face 25-2 Barr Reeve at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Loogootee Regional.

Thumbs up to the Seymour High School boys and girls bowling teams for winning sectional titles Saturday at Columbus Bowling Center. Team members include Enrique Morales, Alex Sturgill, Kaylee Patton, Micah Maschino, Lilly Kelly, Erika Corya, Lucy Horton, Luke Lanam, Trevor Lawson, Kenny Kelly, Trey Morris, Joey Larison, Angelina Corya, Sydney Gregory, Jake Schlatterer, Matt Graves, Carter Murphy, Wyatt McKinney, Dillan Cooper, Chase Burke, Carter Hall and Oliver Lanam. Coaches are Shannon Kelly, Ed Sides and Stephanie Stogsdill. They will compete in the regional Saturday in New Castle.

Inspiration imaginations

Thumbs up to Pam Kindel, office manager for Schuler Bauer Real Estate Services in Seymour, and Anne Staley, executive director of READ Jackson County. They recently helped bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to Jackson County. The program is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting free books to children from birth to age 5. In the first month of Imagination Library in Jackson County, more than 130 children have been enrolled. To the rescue

Thumbs up to Aisin Drivetrain Inc. in Crothersville, which recently presented a $2,900 donation to the Crothersville-Vernon Township Volunteer Fire Department to purchase ice rescue suits and equipment. With the donation, the fire department will be obtaining four rescue suits, all of the ropes needed and a rescue sling.
