FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A Fort Wayne man accused of fatally shooting and killing two young men and wounding a third was formally charged Tuesday with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Joseph Bossard, 32, also was charged with aggravated battery, criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon and using a firearm during a crime.

Joshua Cooper and Anderson Retic, both 19, were shot while sitting in their car at a gas station Feb. 17. A third person Jaylin Rice, 20, remains hospitalized is in serious condition.

Nearly 100 friends and family of the three men gathered outside the Allen County Courthouse before the hearing. They held signs that read, “Long Live Josh, Long Live Andy,” “Justice,” and ”#JaylinStrong.”

A probable cause affidavit said Bossard engaged in “some kind of verbal confrontation with three young male black subjects” while they all were at a convenience store.
