Rickey R. Mackey, 72, passed away Friday, February 19 at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center.

Rickey was born October 17, 1948 in Seymour, Indiana to Raymond Mackey and Irene Raes.

Rickey enlisted in the United States Navy in 1972 and served in Vietnam. He served in the Navy for eight years and was Honorably Discharged in 1979.

After his service, Rickey went to work for Richardson Molding where he met his wife, Diana. They were married on June 27, 1993. He retired from the company after more than twenty years of employment.

Rickey was a long time member of the VFW Post 1987. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed going to garage sales, especially when it came to negotiating a good deal; but most of all, Rickey loved his family and loved spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Mackey; his mother, Irene Raes; his son, Jamie Beavers; his daughter, Tamie (Mark) Ayers; step-son, Bobby (Catrina) England; step-daughter, Chera Bonta; sisters, Deborah (Kenny) Bruner and Diana (Lynn) Stuckwisch; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Mackey; his son, Joey Beavers; sister, Gale Pinion; and infant brother, Everett William.

A graveside service with Military Honors by the Bartholomew County Honor Guard will be held Wednesday, February 24 at 11 a.m. at Garland Brook Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Todd Riordan.

Memorial Donations in Rickey’s name may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.

Myers-Reed Chapel is serving the Mackey family.
