County positivity rate stands at 6.8%

The state announced Friday that 4,505 Jackson County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, an increase of 11 from Thursday’s total.

The positivity rate for Jackson County is at 6.8%, a 0.4% increase from Thursday’s 6.4%, according to the Indiana State Department of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard.

The rate is determined by a seven-day moving average with a six-day lag to give time to receive comprehensive results. The current positivity rate for the county would be for Feb. 6 to Feb. 12.

After the ISDH’s county metrics map was updated Wednesday, Jackson County is now classified as a level 1.5 county and is a yellow level threat.

No new deaths attributed to COVID-19 were reported in Jackson County on Friday, meaning the death toll remains at 60.

There have been 47,318 COVID tests administered to 17,333 individuals in the county since March 18, 2020, an increase of 174 from Thursday’s total.

The latest results are as of 11:59 p.m. Thursday. The coronavirus dashboard is updated at noon daily.

According to the ISDH’s Indiana COVID-19 vaccination dashboard, 6,152 or 13.9% of 44,231 Jackson County residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 1,939 or 4.3% of county residents have been fully vaccinated.

This is an increase of 93 county residents receiving their first dose since Thursday. One hundred fifty-five more have been fully vaccinated.

Since Dec. 14, 866,680 Hoosiers have received their first dose, while 402,792 are fully vaccinated.

On Friday, 1,080 additional Hoosiers across the state were diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at the ISDH, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories.

This brings the total number of Hoosiers known to have had the novel coronavirus to 643,245 following corrections to the previous day’s total.

Indiana’s total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 is 11,898 with 44 new deaths being reported Friday.

For the state, a total of 7,683,034 tests have been administered, an increase of 32,422 from Thursday’s total.
