Wilma Ann (Tormoehlen) Benter, age 79, of Seymour, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at her residence.

Mrs. Benter was a life-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan.

Wilma was employed with Jackson County Insurance of Brownstown, retiring in 2020 after 40 years of service. She served as Treasurer of AAL (St. Paul,Wegan), and she was also a 4-H leader for the Sauers Merry Makers 4-H Club for more than 30 years. Wilma loved spending time with her entire family. She especially enjoyed the Christmas Eve family tradition and was passionate about hosting family functions. She also loved gardening, cooking, sewing, and helping with the Tampico class reunions.

Born on December 23, 1941, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Louis and Lena Wessel Tormoehlen, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 21, 1964, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, she married Alvin Benter and he preceded her in death on July 9, 1986.

Survivors include one son, Loren Benter of Seymour; three daughters: Teresa (Denny) Brock of Freetown, Beth (Troy) Roberts of Seymour, and Kim Nash of Brownstown; 11 grandchildren: Denise Brock, Peyton Brock, Joshua Allen, Ashley (Bryan) Stahl, Catherine (Levi) Caudill, Maria (Daulton) Anderson, Alyson Nash (Matt Zarick), Taylor Nash (Paige Espinda), Rachel (Jon) Cain, Dale Roberts, and Russell Roberts; nine great-grandchildren: Avery Stahl, Hannah Stahl, Evan Stahl, Brinlee Caudill, Watson Caudill, Lainey Anderson, Easton Anderson, Waylon Cain, and Emersyn Cain; three brothers: Delbert (Alberta) Tormoehlen of Seymour, Glenn (Carol) Tormoehlen of Brownstown, and Leslie (Betty) Tormoehlen of Brownstown; brothers-in-law: Glenn (Carolyn) Benter and Paul Darlage, both of Seymour; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Stuckwisch of Brownstown, and Patty (John) Surenkamp of Seymour.

Wilma was also preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law: Elmer (Dorothy) Tormoehlen, Robert (Sarah) Tormoehlen, and Wayne (Mary Lou) Tormoehlen; six sisters and brothers-in-law: Leona (Walter) Peters, Luella (Daniel) Stuckwisch, Laura (Marvin, Sr.) Peters, Edna (William) Stuckwisch, Elnora (William) Lucas, and Earlene Tormoehlen; brother-in-law, Leland Stuckwisch; and sister-in-law, Melba Darlage.

Funeral services for Wilma Ann (Tormoehlen) Benter will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, with Pastor Martin Keller officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2021, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. will be practicing social distancing according to CDC guidelines. Masks are required when entering the funeral home for visitation and when entering the church for the funeral service.

Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan Cemetery.
