Winter weather advisory issued

The Indiana Department of Transportation Southeast District has issued a full callout of plow trucks ahead of accumulating snow and ice expected tonight through Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service predicts up to 2 inches of snow with potential ice for the majority of the area. Some locations could see totals closer to 3 or 4 inches.

As of this morning, a winter weather advisory had been issued for much of the Southeast District. The advisory is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. today and is expected to end at 7 a.m. Tuesday. The combination of snow, ice and cold temperatures will likely cause slick road conditions across southeast Indiana.

Plow drivers will begin reporting late this afternoon to start monitoring and treating state roads. Shift changes will take place around midnight and additional crews will take over as necessary.
