The state announced Thursday that 4,436 Jackson County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, an increase of 21 from Wednesday’s total.

The positivity rate for Jackson County is at 10%, same as Wednesday’s percentage, according to the Indiana State Department of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard.

The rate is determined by a seven-day moving average with a six-day lag to give time to receive comprehensive results. The current positivity rate for the county would be for Jan. 22 to 28.

After ISDH’s county metrics map was updated Wednesday, Jackson County is still classified as a level 2 county and remains an orange level threat.

In the county, there have been 43,793 COVID tests administered to 16,830 individuals since March 18, 2020, an increase of 599 from Wednesday’s total.

No new deaths attributed to COVID-19 were reported in Jackson County on Thursday, but after Indiana added 1,507 unreported COVID-19-related deaths to the state’s total count, the county’s death toll increased to 59.

This comes after an end-of-the-year audit where the state matched COVID-19-related death certificates to positive COVID-19 tests.

The state’s COVID-19 death toll is now 11,231, including 37 more deaths reported Thursday. On Wednesday, it was 9,713.

The latest results are as of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday. The coronavirus dashboard is updated at noon daily.

According to the ISDH’s Indiana COVID-19 vaccination dashboard, 4,375 or 9.8% of 44,231 Jackson County residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 1,033 or 2.3% of county residents have been fully vaccinated.

This is an increase of 332 county residents receiving their first dose since Wednesday. Twenty-five more have been fully vaccinated.

Since Dec. 14, 637,906 Hoosiers have received their first dose, while 178,560 are fully vaccinated.

On Thursday, 2,408 additional Hoosiers across the state were diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at the ISDH, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories.

This brings the total number of Hoosiers known to have had the novel coronavirus to 633,690 following corrections to the previous day’s total.

For the state, a total of 7,150,804 tests have been administered, an increase of 54,570 from Wednesday’s total.
